Предвид актуалността на проблема с хирургичните рецидиви, този подход е обект на оживена дискусия, но това което прави впечатление е публикуването на два противоречащи си мета-анализа в Int J Colorectal Dis само в рамките на четири месеца през тази година - “Extended mesenteric resection reduces the rate of surgical recurrence in Crohn’s disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis” (Vaghiri et al.) публикуван във февруарския брой и „Clinical outcomes of conventional versus extended mesenteric resection in limited ileo-colonic Crohn's disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis“ (Mostafa et al.) публикуван през юни, в който авторите не намират полза от разширената резекция.
