Dear colleagues,
I would like to officially announce the complete renewal of the website for the journal "Surgery" - https://bgss.eu/.
The editorial board's policy is shaped by the recognition of "Surgery" as a scientific institution with various roles within the Bulgarian surgical community.
The journal "Surgery" has a rich history and established traditions, having been founded in 1934. It serves as the main publication of the Bulgarian Surgical Society (BSS). Until 2016, it was indexed in PubMed-MEDLINE and the SCOPUS and Web of Science databases, but it temporarily lost this status for several reasons.
We recognize the challenges involved in organizing content, as well as in printing, storing, and distributing physical copies to our target readers. The current editorial board is committed to enhancing the journal's visibility and authority at both national and international levels. We are actively working to achieve this goal and have already completed several steps in this direction.
The new website (https://bgss.eu/) allows for manuscript submission through a fully digitalized platform, significantly improving the efficiency, accuracy, and convenience of the scientific publishing process. After an initial review by the editor, submitted articles undergo peer review, conducted on the same platform by two independent, anonymous reviewers. Authors will receive feedback following this review process.
Using this online submission system offers numerous advantages for authors, editors, and reviewers.

The journal "Surgery" is an open-access publication with an electronic edition currently available (ISSN online: 3033-151X). Once an article is accepted for publication, it will be promptly published online and assigned a standardized, unique DOI (Digital Object Identifier) number and a specific citation format. Articles will also be organized into journal issues, which are accessible electronically.
