The incidence of ovarian metastases from colorectal cancer is relatively low in the range of 3-14%, and metachronous metastases are even lower 1.3-2.4%. In most cases, they occur in old age, during menopause and 12 months after diagnosis with CRC, creating some diagnostic challanges.
We present a clinical case of a 78-year-old woman who underwent emergency surgery for colon adenocarcinoma. One year later, bilateral ovarian lesions and peritoneal carcinosis were found. The performed colonoscopy did not detect recurrent colon tumor. The patient underwent a hysterectomy with bilateral adnexectomy. The results of histological and immunohistochemical examination confirmed the origin of ovarian tumors.
