Abstract

Malignant proliferating trichilemmal tumors of the skin (MPTTS) are very rare oncological disease with origin from the adnexal structures of the skin - from the outer root sheath of the hair follicles. The benign variant – trichilemmal cysts – are more common, and in extremely rare cases they can degenerate into a malignant. The most common localization is the scalp area, less often - in the neck area, limbs and groin. An accurate histological diagnosis is very important. The main imaging methods are CT, MRI and PET-CT. Surgery is the only radical treatment providing longterm survival and good results.
We present a rare clinical case of a young man with a malignant proliferating trichilemmal tumor in the inguino-femoral region.
